I’ve been sitting here for awhile with my fingers on the keyboard wondering how to tell the story of this ring. The easy part is that it is a James Avery ring with an amethyst. It’s unique which I like very much. The band is kind of folded over. I believe it’s a retired piece.
[I’m hitting the delete key a lot on this one.]
This ring was a gift from my father back in the early nineties. We’ve been estranged since 1997 (my choice) and now he’s dying without family (his choice) in a nursing home in Kingsland, Texas. I saw him last summer, and, sadly, there was no tearful, bedside reconciliation.
I wear this ring in spite of the memories it conjures up, not because of them. I wear this ring simply because it is beautiful.
