My husband is a traditional bow hunter, and I am an artist. That combination makes for some interesting dinner conversation, believe me. For example, when he came for lunch today I was pondering how to describe this wall hanging made with a genuine coyote skull and copper sheet metal.
I had searched the Etsy website for taxidermy and gotten a wide range of results. I always thought taxidermy involved stuffing the poor animal, but evidently not.
Anyway, after some pondering I decided to use the term, just in case someone considered this to be a taxidermy item.
The fact of the matter is this genuine coyote skull is a found object. Found while hubby was out hunting in far West Texas.
I had fun figuring out how to make it a decorative item. A little gilder's paste, some verdigris patina on a sheet of copper and a toothbrush to brighten his choppers, and here he is.
The next step is to find a new home for him. Her? Would he look good on your wall?
